Des Moines – This year the IFGC board has changed the date of the conference to give our members more opportunities to participate in grazing and forage discussions. IFGC will hold their annual conference immediately before the Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) conference at the ISU Alumni Center, located in the ISU Center south of CY Stephens Auditorium. IFGC has partnered with PFI to plan an agenda of producer and industry expert speakers. The PFI conference event will start at noon on January 22 and go through January 23. The IFGC Conference will run from noon on January 21 to 11:30 am on the 22nd.
Featured speakers include grazing consultant Jim Elizondo and forage specialist Bruce Anderson. Two producer panels and other Iowa speakers will address topics including grazing cover crops, stockpiling forages, managing alfalfa, land use decisions, strategic supplementations and contract grazing. There will be a Thursday evening session with a dinner catered by Hickory Park, with discussions on current beef and grazing topics in Iowa.
The cost to attend this event is low due to support from the North Central SARE program, the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, the Iowa Beef Center, and many forage industry partners of IFGC. To attend both days of the PFI conference or the IFGC conference, members pay $40 in advance or $50 at the door. Non-members admission is $60 in advance or $70 at the door. Single day rates (either Thursday or Friday) are $25 in advance, $35 at the door for members or $35 in advance, $45 at the door for non-members.
