Industry Professionals Show Up for Pasture Tour Near Winterset – Just Miss Rain

On September 17, the Iowa Forage and Grassland Council dodged the foreboding weather for a pasture tour at Rowe’s Red Cows near Winterset, Iowa. Nearly 45 members and guests attended this tour to learn about:

  • Planning Recovery Methods of Damaged Pastures
  • Stockpiled Grazing
  • Controlling Pasture Weeds
  • Pasture Renovation
  • Utilizing Cover Crops from Prevented Planting Acres
  • Fall Seeding Forages
  • Pros and Cons of Alternative Cow Management Systems

Guest speakers included Elyssa Trejo, Corteva Agriscience, and other board members.

About Rowe’s Red Cows – Fifth-generation beef farmer Justin Rowe has raised cattle since he was 9 years old and today is the owner of Rowe’s Red Cows.
